As my belly grows and that third-trimester exhaustion gets me easy, quick meals are my go to when I cook. Even better is when I can toss some healthy ingredients into a slow cooker and let it do the cooking for me.
I was recently introduced to a new local company that specializes in farm fresh meats called Sprout. Sprout is a new way to get those premium quality meats at a lower price point than your grocery store. You can save up to 40% in your meat purchases while knowing that you are receiving the freshest meats possible. We are talking a few days young at the most.
How does Sprout work?
You make your order online by picking your meat (currently only chicken breast available) then you choose your pick-up time and choose which location from the selection is best for you.
On pick up day just show your receipt and your order is handed to you.
*Sprouts chicken breasts are 100% all-natural, free run and grain fed. Raised without the use of hormones, additives or artificial ingredients. You can expect the highest quality and freshest premium meats which you would find in your favorite restaurant.*
Ingredients for Quick & Easy Black Bean Tacos
2 large chicken breasts (fresh or frozen)
1 packet of taco seasoning.
16 oz of Salsa (just use your favorite)
1/3 cup chopped cilantro (fresh is best)
Juice from 2 small limes
1 can of black beans drained and rinsed
Place chicken at the bottom of the slow cooker
Add in the rest of the ingredients
Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-7 hours
Once cooked shred chicken and serve on soft taco shells and top with sour cream, tomatoes, avocado, cheese and maybe even ranch dressing. Whatever your heart desires on your taco!
I found with the Sprout chicken that it cooked to perfection and shredded like a dream. I usually have a harder time but this time it was so tender that I only had to use my wooden spoon to break it all apart.
