*disclosure: I was compensated by Wayfair.ca to share a Halloween treat*
Who else is starting to get super excited for Halloween?! In our house, we have a countdown on the fridge and each day our oldest marks a day off and counts how much more. We are down to 10 days people!
I’m usually not the type to make any kind of Halloween treats but this year I’ve been more into baking and creating and this time with the motivation from Wayfair.ca to get my butt in gear!
A few days ago I saw a video on purple people eater floats with ice cream and purple soda and thought that is a great idea. We are not pop drinkers in our house, well not the kids anyhow but I loved the idea of the purple people eater because it is a song that takes me way back to my childhood, anyone else? It was a one eyed one horn flying purple people eater!
I decided to combine that idea but with a chocolate bark recipe and add that spin on it.
- White Chocolate melts about 20oz
- Then any spooky candy you fancy! I used candy bones, eyeballs, and black sprinkles. Other ideas could be gummy worms or leftover Halloween candy!
- Purple Food dye or another color of your choice
- Cookie sheet lined with parchment paper
Put the chocolate melts in a glass bowl and microwave at 30 sec intervals, stirring between each. You want to make sure you do not burn the chocolate. A trick a found out years ago was to make sure there is absolutely no water in the bowl otherwise it will burn.
Once the chocolate is melted add your food coloring. I, of course, used purple for my theme but you could do orange or green or even a variety of colors and marble it.
Once you reach your desired color pour the chocolate on a cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper and spread it evenly.
Add your candies on top making sure not to press them too much in.
Put it in your fridge to cool for about 30 minutes to harden.
Once harden remove it from the parchment paper onto a cutting board and cut it up. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect, it’s not supposed to!
That is it! How simple is that? As a mom of three and one on the way, I need simple right now. I also love that it doesn’t require crazy ingredients, it’s chocolate AND it is soo very versatile! This would be a great one to make to help get rid of some of the Halloween candy in a few weeks.
