A Cold Busting Soothing Tea {Health, Wellness}

October 12, 2016 FOOD, Uncategorized, YUMMY TREATS

Oh Fall! There are plenty of things to be thankful for during this season. Warm cozy sweaters, hot drinks, the routine of school and put my kids in all the programs type of thankfulness. However, with school and programs comes the germs. Germs that end up getting passed on from one family member to the next. Which has recently happened in our household.

I’m more of a natural remedy gal to start off with for minor colds and aliments. When I came down with a cold last year I started googling and Pinteresting all the natural remedies I could find in the form of tea. There were many to choose from of course but this video from Honeysuckle stuck out because I had all the ingredients on hand and they weren’t too out there. I busted it out again recently due to a nasty cold I have been fighting off and my body needed some help!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Lemons
  • 1 Orange
  • 2 inches of fresh ginger
  • 1 cup of raw organic honey (if you don’t have organic that is fine but it is always best)
  • 1 TBS of turmeric

Directions:

  1. Cut up the lemons and orange thinly, keeping the rinds on and seeds removed and place them in a medium sized bowl. Make sure to wash them well before cutting.
  2. Mince the ginger and add to bowl
  3. Add the cup of honey
  4. Add the turmeric
  5. Mix all together and transfer it into a mason jar or any container that you have on hand.

When you are ready to have some tea take a huge heaping tablespoon full and add it to your mug then pour in the hot water. This tea is packed full of immunity boosting, phlegm reducing  and even can help you get some rest at night. This can last in your fridge for up to 1 month but I find it taste best when used within the week.

Enjoy!
