As promised here is another great local shop to know all about! I heard about Launi’s Friends For Keeps dolls through Facebook on the fabulous Langley Mom’s page. These ladies are a great group of women and even though it’s gotten a little crazy on there from time to time I would say that this group is the only one that I have been one that is fair, kind and supportive.
I feel it is so important to have community instead of competition. I was actually talking to a photographer that is over in Ontario about this. I’ve heard this phrase a lot lately and I believe it is something that we really should be striving for both in the online community and offline. How can we lift each other up? How can we support each other in our businesses? Thus, my connecting with Launi. Just look at her amazing dolls that she makes from her home with all local and repurposed materials! GO Launi GO!
She get’s all her materials from Save-On-Fabrics on King Geroge Hwy and she says it is owned by very lovely people.
I headed to her place a few weeks ago to pick up the dolls she had made for my three babes. We got to chatting a little bit and she has such a kind and sweet heart. I have been extremely blessed to have met such amazing business owners who have a passion for what they are creating.
On my way out of her house she said, “I hope they are what you were thinking/hoping for.” I actually didn’t want to give the dolls to my kids until I had a chance to photograph the amazing packaging that they came in. I don’t know about you but to me, the packaging is almost as important as the contents. If it is beautiful and you can tell it was well thought about you know what is inside is going to be great. My kiddos just could not wait and I ended up opening it in the van to give them their gifts.
I was blown away! I really was. These dolls are absolutely beautiful and made with such love and care. They far excessed my expectations! Please meet Simon, Corinne, and Natalie.
Since my son has two older sisters we have found that the girls will receive dolls etc. for birthday’s and holidays but David will receive the typical “boy” toys. However if there is a spare doll he will get in there with the girls and play. I believe boys can play with dolls too. David is so in love with Simon and talks about him all the time! I love that!
Launi came up with the idea for the dolls when she was expecting her daughter Aimee. She wasn’t able to find a job since she had moved back to BC from living in Alberta for awhile. She had extremely bad morning sickness throughout her pregnancy and was too far along to be hired somewhere. She started searching through Pinterest with the focus on little girls and babies. Her trail runs as she put it, “Were the uglyest dolls EVER!” But she kept at it and started to improve each time a doll was made. What you see above is after many trails and a passion filled with love in each doll. Her favorite part now about making the dolls are adding the eyes. In her words, “All at once this little stuffed object has a face. Love it everytime.”
My kiddos have been having a blast with these dolls and Launi has offered a great deal to all Adventurous Mama readers so your kiddos can have some Friends For Keeps in your household as well!
