We try and do a few things every year that we normally would not spend so much money on. This past Saturday we decided to take advantage of the special that the BC Lions were having for their Opener Night Game. Tickets for the kids were only $13.00 each.
Life has seemed a bit chaotic the past few weeks. I have had a lot that I’m working through plus what happened on Thursday night having to go to the ER with gallstones. I’m still waiting for how to go forward which I won’t find out until after my ultrasound on the 14th. Plus, our church is gearing up for our annual soccer camp which keeps my hubby pretty busy and we haven’t seen each other much. Having a family day/night was just what we needed.
Our Saturday started off sleeping in and having a late breakfast, just what this mama needed for a little recovery. We then laid on the couch for most of the afternoon and others napped. We then all got ready to head out to the game.
I’m on a strict diet at the moment so Subway was one of the “healthier” options that everyone would enjoy.
It was the perfect beautiful day out and we enjoyed some of the Tailgate Party activities before we headed inside to our seating. Face painting, a little jumping on a Springfree Trampoline and some balloon flowers.
The game was a bit of a late start for the kids but we probably won’t ever do it anytime soon so we thought, why not? The first half of the game was a little bit unenjoyable for me. We had a few people in front of us that were not so fond of children. We were trying our best and really, they were being awesome as far as kids go in a tight little space. They ended up leaving early second half and then I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the game. Jon and I may have done a little cheering between the two of us at that moment.
Other than the first half we all had a great time. I could not stop staring at my kids. The face paint made their eyes look so big and beautiful and just watching them experience something new was the best for this mama.
We did not get home until midnight and we definitely paid for that on Sunday but it was completely worth it in the end.
Are there any times in your year when you will spend a little more on something special with your family?
