We love to dance in our home! It is one of the ways that we de-stress. There have been many, many dance parties in our new home. Before, we had always lived underneath someone and weren’t able to dance around like crazy people, but since moving to where we are now it is one of our favorite things to do. Music and dance is such a stress reliever, not only for me but for my kids as well. It is also a great way to get up and get moving!
What is important in our home is the quality of music that, not only ourselves listen to but also what our children are. You could be surprised at lyrics these days if you actually stop and listen to what message that is being sung. It is usually the beat that draws us to a song but most of us do not have a tendency to even think about the words. I used to be the exact same way until we had children and our lives shifted on a different path anyway. Rarely will you hear what Christians like to call “secular” music in our home. We do not judge if you do by the way, and if you were to ask our daughters what is their favorite song right now, they would tell you, “Roar” by Katy Perry (which is the only song by her that is played in our family).
Sometimes it can be hard finding music that not only has great lyrics for children but ones that are faith based and we, as parents can stand to listen to. That is where having a husband who is a director in Children’s ministry really comes in handy.
I wanted to share with you some of our favorite tunes that we have been blasting and dancing along with through out our days recently.
Bethel music recently released a compilation of songs just for kids! I would highly recommend it. Our daughters especially, ages 5 & 4, have been having a blast dancing around together in our kitchen. You will find original songs like, “This is amazing grace” and “You are good” both remade into a hip and almost techno type feel. Which is perfect to dancing to!
Another CD (which I won over at Talk Nerdy to Me awhile back) is Take Me Outside by Jessie Farrell
This CD is packed full of songs pertaining to outside play and nature. I love listening to it even. It has such fun songs in them. My two favorite ones are, “Morning Song” and “Bugs and Slugs”. You can check her out here. Please do! Your little ones will LOVE it!
Yancy and Friends Little Praise Party
This was actually the first CD that we downloaded that was something other than Veggie Tales soundtrack, we just could not take any more of Bob and Larry! David quite likes this soundtrack. He will pump his one fist and say, “this is my song mommy” to pretty much every song. Check out her website here. She is completely non-profit!
|Ain’t no dance party till Darth Vader shows up! Am I right?|
Happy Dancing Friends! Other than Bobs and Lolo, are there any other soundtracks that you or your children are loving?
