Last week was a reflecting week for me. Being that it was Holy Week I wanted to really use my time for Jesus rather than any thing else. Of course one thing was replaced with another (Lost the series) eventually but I’m giving myself grace and moving on. Change does not happen over night and I am learning that so much more this year and embracing it rather than beating myself down. Small victories.
1.) A friend that really is family.
I’ve known my friend Jessica for about 18 years? Is that right Jess? Well any way we met in grade 5 and have had our ups and downs as all friendships do but she is my family more than anything. We had many sleep overs as children so I’m pretty familiar with her family as well and have loved all the love and care they show for my now growing family. Jessica’s mom and step-dad did a huge Easter egg hunt for the kiddos complete with a box made castle! Who does that?! So awesome! The kids loved it and so did we.
2.) A husband that agrees to my crazy hiking addiction!
I’ve wanted to get up to Lindeman Lake for a little while now. The last time we hiked Lindeman was when the girls were tiny. This time David was in the hiker and the girls walked on their own. It was a little bit long with Elizabeth but she made it up, we took her in the hiker and Dave in the ergo for half way down then she was able to walk again. Still a little bit chilly this time of year so if you are wanting to go dress warm or be prepared to dress warm once you get to the lake. It was quite busy which I did not like that much. We had to stop a few times to let people pass us so it took longer to get up than it should have. We went one Monday which would usually be OK but seeing how it was the long weekend was not the greatest. We are hoping to camp there this summer as well with another family.
3.) Old photos
The husband and I looked at some old photos of the two girls last night. Time goes by way too fast as we all know! If only they could stay little forever. I miss those days. They are hard and exhausting but so precious and a blessing.
4.) Getting rid of cable.
Ugh I hate it. We got cable on a promotion as it was cheaper to have both cable and internet and it was great for the two shows we like to watch but not worth it in the long run. I was putting cartoons on in the morning while I did some work but our oldest gets really attached and that is all I started to hear all day long and first thing in the morning when she woke up. So we unplugged the box and within a few days it was not on her mind all day. It has been harder to get things done in the morning now but it is worth the extra effort.
5.) The #couplie picture catching on
I’ve had a few people tell me they have loved the #couplie photos that I post and it has inspired them to start their own. It has been something that I really enjoy doing with my husband. It started out first that I was trying to win a contest but I loved doing it so I continued. We have a butt load of photos of the kids but with just Jon and I not much well, not now! My plan is to put them all together and see how we changed over the year and where we have been.
|I had no idea he was making a face otherwise I would have too!|
Bonus: This moment for friends of ours. They won a trip to Disney World! Valued at 9,000! Such a deserving family and what makes it even better is that they were collecting bottles to try and raise the money before they won! It does happen to real people folks! I think I must have entered every contest I could find on Disney World or Land after this moment! We would love to go with our kiddos one day as well! Louise is awesome at finding deals and planning trips, follow along as she does over on her blog HERE.
Happy Friday Eve y’all!
