You know what is hard? Camping with 3 kids under the age of 3. You know what else is hard? Having a tent trailer break on you and trying to stuff everything into a van which this said van’s back handle broke on the trunk a few weeks ago. GONG SHOW! As I sat in the car crying all the way back home to pick up our regular tent the motto of this trip became, “It builds character.”
Far too often we see the negative when things go wrong rather than trying to learn from it. We cannot change the trails that come our way but we can change the way we react to them. It was a rough go the first night/day but after we got all settled it turned out to be a pretty good trip.
We loved the camp site other than it didn’t get much sun. We went to Golden Ears just in maple ridge. There was also a fire ban which we thought would be a bummer but we learned how to use charcoal and it was pleasantly surprising how nice it was. I actually liked it better than a wood fire!
Jon and I were completely exhausted by the end of the night so there was not too much romance for us but we had a chance to talk about some things that needed to be discussed. One of those things was the issue of kids and are we going to have any more. We have still yet to come to a complete discussion but we did agree that we are at least going to wait another 3 years till we have another one and in the mean time get rid of the baby clothes and trust God later to provide.
I feel like I have just missed out a lot when we go on trips like this. I am either pregnant or breastfeeding which kind of handicaps me a little. David eats every two hours so by the time I’m done feeding/changing/playing then putting him back down one, I’m tired and two I’m back feeding within the hour. I want a chance to actually go into the water and play or run around in the forest with the girls.
I love taking pictures of nature and this is when I really wish I had a macro lens to my collection!
sadly this was Elizabeth most of the time. She got completely over tired from being outside all day and would freak about anything and everything.
ok cutest little boy I know 😉
really! Doesn’t he just melt your heart!
Jon thought we would never use the outfit that David is in but I bought it especially for camping! And he was in it most of the trip to keep him toasty warm!
The only thing that made Lizzy happy, her baby doll!
This girl LOVES camping which made everything worth it in the end!
dancing at dinner 😀
A little change from s’mores. Campfire cones. Fill them with fruit, chocolate chips and marshmallows!
